President Buhari Meets Security Chiefs

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday met behind closed doors with members of the National Security Council in the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the meeting, which started around 11:15 a.m., was still ongoing as of the time of filing this report.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday held a closed door meeting with the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa, after he returned from Logos where he attended the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) conference. Recall that the President fully resumed duty today after transmitting a letter to the National Assembly as required by law. The meeting took place after the President addressed the nation in the morning, having been fully briefed by the then Acting President.

President Buhari’s National Address

Following months of medical vacation in London, President Muhammadu Buhari, addressed the nation this morning, after returning on Saturday. Despite his long absence, the President showed he had been well briefed on developments in the country since he away, noting poignantly in the high point of his speech that “Nigeria’s unity is settled and not negotiable.”

The recently sacked National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff has pledged his loyalty to the National Caretaker Committee of the party headed by Sen. Ahmed Makarfi. The former Governor of Borno State made his position known in a statement issued by his Spokesman, Bernard Mikko. The former chairman according to the statement accused Makari of exploiting the Supreme Court judgment to victimize party members who were loyal to his faction.

President Buhari Resumes Work

President Muhammadu Buhari has resumed duties few hours after addressing the nation, following his return from medical vacation in London. A State House Press release signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adeshina, disclosed that the President has notified the National Assembly in writing, of his return and resumption of duties.

Buhari’s Return Excites Villa, Nigerians

The Presidential Villa Abuja and citizens are excited with the news that President Muhammadu Buhari is finally coming back to the country from London. While the Villa is agog with activities as staff and security personnel are making last minute preparations to receive Buhari and Nigerians have taken to social media to express their excitement.
