FBI Investigation: NPF Suspends Abba Kyari, Sets-up Panel

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba has recommended the immediate suspension of the head of the IGP’s Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Abba Kyari over his alleged involvement with international fraudster, Ramon Abbas popularly known as ‘Hushpuppi’ who is been investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. According to US court documents, Hushpuppi named Abba Kyari over his involvement in an alleged $1.1m internet fraud, an allegation which Kyari has since denied any wrongdoing on his part.

NCC Sets New Spectrum Levy For Telecom Operators, Plans To Roll Out 5G Technology

The Nigerian Communications Commission has launched an annual operating regulatory levy to ensure that all licensees are properly assessed towards regulatory expectations and standards. The Commission further added that the Federal Government is set to begin the roll-out of fifth-generation (5G) services across the country. Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Umar Danbatta, made the announcement on Friday at a public inquiry on two regulatory instruments necessary for the deployment of the technology.

Facebook Becomes A $1 Trillion Company

American multinational conglomerate, Facebook has joined the list of companies valued over a trillion dollars as of today’s market close. The company’s market cap is sitting at $1.008 trillion according to Yahoo Finance, putting it over the mark for the first time in its history. The social media company is the fifth U.S. company to hit the milestone, joining Apple, Microsoft, Amazon and Google-parent company Alphabet. The company’s shares closed up 4.2% at $355.64 after a favourable legal ruling that dismissed an antitrust complaint brought by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission and a coalition of state attorneys general.

Websites and apps around the globe went down on Tuesday morning, including government websites like Gov.UK, e-commerce websites like Target, and media websites like CNN and the New York Times. The outage affected a myriad of websites particularly around Europe, the Americans, Asia, and South Africa. Some of the high profile websites include Amazon, Reddit, and Twitch, PayPal, Shopify, BBC.com, HBO Max, Vimeo. The problem seems to be related to an outage at Fastly, a cloud service provider, which underpins a lot of websites. Fastly provider helps improve load times for websites and provides other services to internet sites, apps, and platforms, including a large global server network. The provider supports news sites and apps like CNN, the Guardian, the New York Times and many others. It also provides content delivery for Twitch, Pinterest, HBO Max, Hulu, Reddit, Spotify, and other services.
