NUC Directs Closure Of Universities For Elections

The National Universities Commission has directed universities and inter-university centres cut across the nation to temporarily shut down between 22nd February and 14th March 2023, to enable students to participate in the forthcoming general elections. The announcement was contained in a statement signed by the Deputy Executive Secretary (Administration), Chris Maiyaki, and addressed to vice-chancellors of all universities and directors of inter-university centres, the NUC noted that the directive was based on the directive of the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu.

President Buhari Appoints Rectors, Others For Federal Polytechnics

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointments of Rectors and Registrars for 3 federal polytechnics in the country which was made known in a statement issued on Wednesday by Ben Goong, the Director of Press and Publicity of the Federal Ministry of Education. According to the statement, the appointed Rectors and their institutions are Dr. Duke Okoro for the Federal Polytechnic, Orogun, Delta State; Dr. Paul Ndubuisi for the Federal Polytechnic, Isuochi, Abia State; and Professor Mohammed Magaji for the Federal Polytechnic, Kabo, Kano State.

UTME: Email Required For Registration-JAMB

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) have announced that prospective candidates for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) are required to provide their email addresses for registration. This was made known in a statement issued on Monday by Head, Public Affairs and Protocol, JAMB, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, adding that the policy will take effect from Tuesday, 31 January 2023.

President Buhari Appoints Pioneer Rector For Federal Polytechnic, Orogun

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Dr. Duke Okoro as the pioneer Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Orogun in Delta State. Prior to his appointment as Rector, Okoro was the Director of International Development at the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun, Delta State, and also has a Ph.D. degree in Environmental Analytical Chemistry from the University of Benin, Edo State.

CONUA: FG Completes Registration

The Federal Government has disclosed that it has completed all protocols for the registration of Congress for the Nigerian University Academicians, CONUA, a rival union to the Academic Staff Union of Nigerian Universities, ASUU. The statement was released today through the office of the Minister for Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige shortly after a closed-door meeting with the leadership of the new ASUU rival group, CONUA led by its president, Niyi Sunmonu who warn his members to desist from behaving like ASUU.
