The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr Abubakar Malami, has called for synergy among prosecuting agencies in the fight against human trafficking and forced labour. Malami made the call at the 2017 International Day against trafficking in persons organised by the Ministry of Justice and in collaboration with the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP in Abuja, Nigeria.

Northern States Governors Forum (NSGF) on Friday reaffirmed its commitment to national unity, peaceful coexistence and the rights of all Nigerians to reside and own properties in any part of the country as guaranteed by Nigerian Constitution.
The NSGF also constituted a committee to collate views and comments on the current agitations for the restructuring.

The House of Representatives has proposed a bill to address chaotic handing over and hostile taking over after elections in Nigeria is being proposed by the National Assembly. The purpose of the Bill is to promote the orderly transfer of executive power to assure continuity in the conduct of government’s affairs both domestic and foreign.

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, today fixed August 7, to hear the suit challenging the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, from going ahead with the recall process of Sen. Dino Melaye’s, after his constituents initiated recall process from INEC.

The Minister of Works, Power and Housing, Babatunde Fashola on Friday appeared before an ad-hoc committee of the House of Representatives and tendered an unreserved apology to Members of the Reps for his unsavoury comments on the 2017 budget. Fashola The minister who appeared alongside his aides as early as 9.45am told the Rep Aliyu Madaki led adhoc committee that there was no time he deliberately disparaged the National Assembly as alleged.

The Minister of Budget and National Planning, Udoma Udoma, revealed that the Federal Government will present the 2018 appropriation bill to the National Assembly in October 2017. The Minister disclosed this at a public dialogue with Members of the National Assembly, top government officials, members of the Civil Societies Organisation, and the Organised Private Sector among others in continuation of his consultations on the draft 2018–2020 Medium Term Expenditure Framework, (MTEF).
