President of the Senate, Dr Bukola Saraki, has assured Nigerians that the present efforts at amending the 1999 Constitution will not be in futility. Saraki gave the assurance when he featured on Newsmen Forum in Abuja. The Senate president said the 8th National Assembly have learnt from the mistakes of previous assemblies whose efforts amounted to waste time and resources because the amendment was not endorsed by the president.

The Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has approved the appointment a new chairman and members for the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission. Prof. Bolaji Owosanoye is to serve as the new Chairman of the Commission with a renewable tenure of five years.

The release of Nnamdi Kanu from detention by a federal high court sitting in Abuja was widely celebrated in the South East. His release followed sustained protest by members of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and intervention by some well-meaning Nigerians across the country.

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo SAN warned against hate speeches in the guise of freedom of speech, he averred that hate speech precedes the greatest tragedies in human history. Osinbajo was speaking today at a seminar on National Security and Unity with the theme "Unity in Diversity", organised by the DGSS, Lawal Daura at the Institute for Security Studies, Abuja.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has called for the arrest and prosecution of those involved in the recent shooting of two of its officials in Abia. The Public Education Officer and spokesman of the Corps, Mr Bisi Kazeem, made the call on Tuesday while reacting to the reported dismissal of a Police Corporal, Iroh Orji, over the incident.

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo on Tuesday received the visiting Ghanaian President, Nana Akufo-Addo, at the Presidential villa, Abuja. Akufo-Addo arrived at the Villa at about 11.12 a.m. and was welcomed by Osinbajo who ushered him into the Acting President’s office through a red carpet. The visit lasted for a few minutes as the Ghanaian leader proceeded immediately to the National Defence College to deliver a lecture to the college graduands.
