The Government of the Russian Federation, through its embassy in Nigeria, has entered into a partnership with the Nigerian Media on counterterrorism reporting. In an interactive session with some senior editors at the Russian Embassy in Abuja, the deputy head of Mission, Mr Valery Shaposhnikov, presented documents on Anti-terrorism Convention to the Deputy President of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE), Mr Suleiman Uba Gaya.

Reports reaching vigil 360 news indicate that a Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna has ruled that the suit filed by the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky against the Nigerian Army, the Chief of Army Staff and two others for alleged violation of fundamental rights is an abuse of court process.
Nigerian Air Force Confirms helicopter crash in the Northeast
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) confirmed on Thursday that one of its Agusta 109 Light Utility helicopters crashed into a pool of water in Maiduguri, Borno State.
However, no life was lost in the incident.
Aisha Buhari Condoles Family of late Maitama Sule
The wife of the President, Aisha Buhari, has condoled with the family of late Danmasanin Kano, Yusuf Maitama Sule, who died in the early hours of Monday while on admission in a Cairo hospital, in Egypt. He was aged 87.
In a condolence message signed by the Director of Information to the Wife of the President, Suleiman Haruna, Mrs. Buhari said, “I received with shock, but total submission to the will of Allah, the death of Dr Yusuf Maitama Sule, Danmasanin Kano, a leading light of Nigeria.”
Court orders Senator Kashamu Buruji to Avail Himself for Police Investigation
Justice Nmandi Dimgba of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday ordered the Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District, Buruji Kashamu, to submit himself to the police for investigation into an allegation of alleged his attempt to murder a member of the House of Representatives representing Ikene/Shagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency, Mr. Oladipupo Adebutu.

Kogi Electorate File Fresh Suit To Remove Bello From Office
Some electorates in Kogi, have approached a Federal High Court in Abuja to declare the return and swearing-in of Alhaji Yahaya Bello as the Governor of Kogi as null and void. The suit, number FHC/ABJ/C3/535/ /2017, was filed on June 16 before Justice John Tsoho of the Federal High Court 3, Abuja.
