Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for signing the “Not-Too-Young-To-Run” Bill into law and urged him to assent to other bills transmitted to him by the National Assembly.

Ekweremadu, who is also the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Review of the 1999 Constitution, on Thursday said the new amendment to the Constitution would open up the political space for the Nigerian youth.

He urged them to capitalise on it to take their proper place in the scheme of things.

Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, Nigeria Vice President, has said that the country’s tax revenue has increased to 51 per cent in 2017. Osinbajo made the disclosure at the FT Nigeria Summit on “Dispelling Uncertainty and Building Resilience’’ in Lagos. He said that the 51 per cent growth year- on-year was due to aggressive tax policies introduced by the Federal Government.

The opposition says it is anticipating the defection of the senator representing Kogi west who’s no longer comfortable among his own.

Melaye caused a scene on Wednesday when he resumed at senate plenary after his ordeal with the police.

President Muhammadu Buhari has accepted the disengagement of the Deputy Governor in charge of Operations at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr Adebayo Adelabu, with effect from July 15, 2018. CBN Acting Director, Corporate Communications, Mr Isaac Okorafor stated this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja, saying that Buhari in a letter dated May 24, 2018, wished Adelabu well in his future endeavor.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday signed the Not-Too-Young-To-Run Bill into law.

Buhari signed the bill into law at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, barely two days after he promised to do so.

The Personal Assistant to the President on New Media, Bashir Ahmad, posted two videos on Twitter which shows President Buhari signing the bill into law.

Governors of South-South states have met in Port Harcourt, where they restated their demands for 13 per cent derivation and restructuring of Nigeria.

The governors are Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State, Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State, and Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State.

Edo State governor Godwin Obaseki was represented at the meeting by the deputy governor, Mr. Phillip Shuaibu.
