President Muhammadu Buhari will make a national broadcast on Tuesday, as part of the celebration of 19 years of unbroken democracy.

Nigeria since 1999 has been observing 29 May as Democracy Day.

According to Femi Adesina, President Buhari’s media adviser, television and radio stations are enjoined to hook up to the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and Radio Nigeria for the broadcast.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has asked President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) not to address Nigerians on Democracy Day.

May 29, which is Democracy Day in Nigeria also marks the conclusion of President Buhari’s third year in office and it is expected that the President would address the nation.

But the PDP believes the President has failed to fulfil his promises, which helped him sweep to power on May 29, 2015.

It Is Not My Duty To Castigate My Boss - Umahi

Differed from some of his colleagues in the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi has vowed never to castigate President Muhammadu Buhari whom he declared to be his boss.

He was emphatic that he would not insult Buhari to prove that he was still in opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Umahi made the declaration on Saturday night in Abakaliki during a media chat and dinner he organised for journalists as part of the 2018 Democracy Day celebrations.

Malam Garba Shehu, the SSA to the President on Media and Publicity, has told Mr. Reno Omokri, ex-President Goodluck Jonathan’s aide to stop lying.

“Reno should stop lying, if only to help the pastoral calling to retain its good name. Otherwise he should quit the ministry,’’ Shehu advised the viperous critic of Buhari .

He said that he had known and worked with exemplary pastors who were decent and from whom he learned more of the etiquette of truth telling.

President Muhammadu Buhari met with the wives of the 36 States governors for the first time in Abuja on Sunday. were he reiterated the Federal Government’s support to all groups involved in the fight against drug abuse, challenges facing women and children in IDP camps as well as women and youth empowerment.

The President expressed his delight at the various programmes by the governor's wives which are aimed at touching the lives of Nigerians, especially women and children.

Al-Makura Applauds Conduct Of Nasarawa LG Polls

The Nasarawa State Governor, Tanko Al-Makura has described the ongoing election holding in 13 Local Government Area as orderly and peaceful.

The governor stated this to journalists after casting his vote at the Lungun Wambai polling unit in Lafia, the state capital.
