Sierra Leone’s President, Julius Bio, has visited President Muhammadu Buhari to renew the bond of friendship between the two countries.

President Bio arrived at the Presidential Villa on Wednesday where he was received by the President.

Dino Melaye Resumes Plenary, Opts To Sit With PDP Members

After weeks of being away from the Senate Chambers, the Senator representing the Kogi West Senatorial Constituency, Senator Dino Melaye has resumed plenary.

Senator Melaye resumed plenary on Wednesday and asked to be moved from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) side of the chamber to the Opposition.

The Senator who resumed plenary after a battling with the police and being on admission in the hospital for a while asked Senate President Bukola Saraki for permission to leave his allotted seat and move to the opposite side of the Senate chamber.

ACF Commends Buhari’s Three Years

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has commended President Muhammadu Buhari’s strides in security, economy, fight against corruption as the administration marks three years in the saddle.

The National Publicity Secretary of ACF, Alhaji Muhammad Ibrahim, praised Buhari in a statement released on Tuesday in Kaduna.

Ibrahim said that three years of Buhari’s administration in the opinion of ACF, has experienced both challenges and successes that are natural process of nation building.

Senate To Invite Prisons Boss Over Detention Of Underage Offenders

The Senate has directed its Committee on Interior to invite the Comptroller-General of Prisons with a mandate to investigate the confinement of underage offenders and infants with adults in the nation’s prison facilities.

The lawmakers gave the directive during plenary on Wednesday, following a motion sponsored by Senator Victor Umeh from Anambra State.

They noted that it was illegal to confine underage offenders in the same prison with adult prisoners and asked the committee to get a brief from the Prisons Boss on the state of prison inmates in the country.

Kayode Fayemi Resigns As Minister

The Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr Kayode Fayemi, has announced his resignation from President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet.

Dr Fayami made the announcement on Wednesday at a valedictory briefing in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory in order to pursue his governorship ambition in Ekiti State.

He had given a hint about his resignation from the President’s cabinet earlier in May during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

APC, Predecessors Have Not Addressed Nigeria’s Fundamental Issues – Ezekwesili

Nigeria’s former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili does not believe that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the previous administration have addressed Nigeria’s challenging issues.

Ezekwesili was one of the guests on Channels Television Democracy Day Programme, Channels Forum, aimed at discussing and proffering solutions to the many challenges facing the nation. She noted that both administrations have not addressed Nigeria’s fundamental issues.

“APC and its predecessor have not in anyway addressed the fundamental structural issue that we have as Nigeria. And I will say that the top is our obsession for the lottery that comes out of being an oil-rich economy,” she said.
