Al-Makura Applauds Conduct Of Nasarawa LG Polls

The Nasarawa State Governor, Tanko Al-Makura has described the ongoing election holding in 13 Local Government Area as orderly and peaceful.

The governor stated this to journalists after casting his vote at the Lungun Wambai polling unit in Lafia, the state capital.

The Presidency has received the 2018 Appropriation Bill from the National Assembly.

Senator Ita Enang, the President’s liaison officer to the National Assembly, confirmed that he received the budget from the legislature on Friday and that the consideration of the budget by the President would follow.

Senate President Bukola Saraki had told State House correspondents on Thursday that the budget, which was passed by the National Assembly on Wednesday last week, would be forwarded to the President today (Friday).

The Federal High Court in Benin has ordered that the Chairman of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo, Chief Dan Orbih, be remanded in prison custody if he failed to perfect his bail.

The court had on Thursday granted the Orbih and Mr Osagie Ize-Iyamu, the 2016 governorship candidate, bail in the sum of N10 million for alleged N700 million fraud.

Also granted bail in the same condition, were the former deputy governor, Mr Lucky Imasuen, a former member of the House of Representatives, Tony Azegnemi and Efe Anthony.

Frustrated by the lingering impasse in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State, Senators Suleiman Hunkuyi and Shehu Sani are considering dumping the party.

NAN reports that their faction of APC in Kaduna State says it was considering defecting to another political party barely few months to the 2019 general elections.

The faction, known as APC Akida, said in a statement in Kaduna on Friday that they have concluded a review of the state of the party and governance issues in the state and the nation, and was considering leaving the party they worked hard to put in place.

The Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, has taken a swipe at the All Progressives Congress (APC) after the party set up a 77-man committee ahead of the state’s governorship election.

The Governor on Thursday said the Party will be roundly defeated despite their “army of occupation”.

He further criticized the APC for setting up a committee for the state’s election, rather than paying attention to the nation’s economic recovery, herdsmen killings and hunger.

A Federal High Court in Abuja has declared as illegal the suspension of Abdulmumin Jibrin, Lawmaker representing Bebeji/Kiru Constituency in Kano state, by the House of Representatives. In 2017, the House suspended Jibrin for 180 legislative days after he alleged the padding of 2016 budget.
