Defecting To APC Won’t Stop Orji Kalu’s Case – EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has insisted that the fact that a former governor of Abia State, Mr Orji Kalu, changed his political party won’t stop the alleged corruption case involving him.

A spokesperson for the commission, Mr Wilson Uwujaren, said on Tuesday during his appearance on Channels Forum, a Channels Television programme which brings opinion leaders and policymakers together to discuss and find solutions to Nigeria’s problems.

The EFCC had charged Mr Kalu with fraud allegations running into billions of naira when he served as governor of Abia State.

Buhari Promises To Sign ‘Not Too Young To Run’ Bill Within Days

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday said he would approve a new law to reduce the age limit for political office, raising the prospect of younger candidates at next year’s general election.

“In (a) few days to come, I will be joined by many promising young Nigerians to sign into law the ‘Not Too Young To Run’ bill,” he said in a speech to mark the annual Democracy Day public holiday.

Attahiru Jega, former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Monday alleged that members of the National Assembly are notorious for seeking bribes to carry out their constitutional duties. Jega said this while delivering this year’s Democracy Day lecture at the International Conference Centre in Abuja.
