A Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Umuahia, Abia State, on Monday remanded 60 members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) at the Afara Federal Prisons in Aba. The magistrate ordered that the IPOB members be remanded in prison after their counsel challenged the jurisdiction of the court to hear the matter.

President Muhammadu Buhari has returned to Abuja after attending the 72nd Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The Nigerian Government has begun emergency and remedial repair of some major roads and bridges in Lagos State, the Federal Controller of Works, Lagos, Mr Godwin Eke, said. Eke told journalists in Lagos that some of the bad roads required urgent attention and that the Nigerian Government was determined to make all federal roads across the country motorable.

Following the recent proscription and declaration of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) as a terrorist organization by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, the Federal Government has gazetted the order to further give it the force of law. The gazette which was published on September 20, the date the proscription order was issued by the Court, was signed by the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami (SAN).
