The Federal Government on Thursday said it was not against state governments developing their own power projects to support development and improvement in power supply. The Minster of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, reiterated the position of the federal government at a meeting of the National Council on Power ( NACOP ) in Jos.

Members of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities (NASU) may suspend the ongoing strike any moment from Friday after reaching an agreement with the Federal Government on Thursday. The National President of SSANU, Samson Ugwoke who spoke to newsmen after a crucial meeting with the Minister of Labour and Employment, Sen. Chris Ngige, in Abuja stated that the resolution was signed by the parties involved.

Following the interception of over 1,500 arms of various sizes and designs, the Nigeria Customs Service yesterday arrested and detained 28 officers working at the Tin-Can Island Command of the Service.

Nigeria’s push to return to the Egmont Group continued as the Presidential Ad-hoc Committee on Financial Intelligence submitted its report to the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo. The ad-hoc committee was set up by Professor Osinbajo to re-position the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit and restore membership of the Egmont Group.
