CAF: Rivers United

Nigeria’s representative in CAF Confederation Cup, Rivers United would go all out for a home win in today’s CAF Confederation Cup home tie against FUS Rabat of Morocco at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Port Harcourt. Rivers United are going into the tie conscious of the fact that anything short of the maximum points would mean end of the road for them in the competition as emerging from the group would become a herculean task.

The Bull - Daniel Amocachi

Former Super Eagles assistant coach, Daniel Amokachi, has been promoted to the position of Technical Director of Finnish League side, JS Hercules. Amokachi was appointed coach of the team in January 2016, but will now work with the team in a bigger capacity.

Angered by his non feature in the Super Eagles’ 2018 World Cup qualifier against Zambia last October, Nosa Igiebor has disclosed that he will no longer play for Nigeria as long as Gernot Rohr remains the head coach.  The Çaykur Rizespor Kulübü midfielder, is enraged that Rohr did not speak to him on why he was not used during the game.

Gernot-Rohr

The Super Eagles will no longer hold a training camp in Paris before their African Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa on June 10. Consequently, a proposed friendly with the Togolese National Team has been cancelled, though it was never approved by the Nigeria Football Federation in the first place.

Manchester City and Nigerian striker, Kelechi Iheanacho is on the verge of leaving the Etihad on a permanent transfer in the summer. The 20-year-old Nigerian has dropped further down the pecking order since the arrival of Brazilian forward, Jesus Gabriel to City, a situation that has greatly limited his playing time.
