The All Progressives Congress (APC) has cleared the air on its alleged involvement in the internal wrangling within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), leading to the emergence of a new faction named 'Fresh PDP.' The National Publicity Secretary of the Party, Bolaji Abdullahi while speaking with Punch Correspondents said his party has no interest in the internal affairs of the PDP stressing that the opposition party has failed to learn from its sordid past.

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Mr. A bubakar Malami on Thursday said he is not aware of the reasons why the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) arrested the Chief Executive Officer of Innoson Motors, Innocent Chukwuma.  The AGF made this known while fielding questions from State House Correspondents after the Federal Executive Council meeting which extended to Thursday.

President Muhammadu Buhari has sought the confirmation of nine nominees as state Resident Electoral Commissioners, RECs, of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC. The president’s letter was read by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, on Wednesday. The letter reads, “In accordance of the Provisions of section 154 (1) of the 1999 constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria.

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Uche Secondus says the All Progressive Congress (APC) led government is building new prisons in some states to keep members of opposition parties. Mr. Secondus stated this on Tuesday in Abuja at the opening of a two-day retreat for members of the newly elected National Working Committee of the party. He warned the APC government to desist from persecuting members of the PDP because of their refusal to defect to the ruling party.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ibrahim Idris on Wednesday decorated Ibrahim Danjuma with the rank of Commissioner of Police after a court discharged and acquitted him of involvement in the killing of six Igbo traders in Apo District, Abuja in 2005. Danjuma who was decorated along with 14 others, recently promoted by the Police Service Commission.

Some aggrieved members of the Peoples Democratic Party on Wednesday announced the formation of a parallel party known as 'Fresh PDP'. The aggrieved 'former' members of the PDP who are ostensibly loyal to one of the chairmanship aspirants at the recently concluded National Convention are led by one Emmanuel Nwosu. The group while opening their secretariat in Asokoro, Abuja, called for the conduct of a fresh convention as the last one was marred by irregularities.

President Buhari receiving NIA investigative reports

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday received the report of the Presidential Review Panel set up to investigate the circumstances surrounding the $43 million cash recovered by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at Osborne Towers, Ikoyi Lagos. Receiving the report from the panel established to review the operational, technical and administrative structure of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), President Buhari described the discovery of monies in the flat at Osborne Towers, Ikoyi, Lagos, in April this year, as an ‘‘unfortunate incident which rightly aroused public interest and outcry.’’
