Section Of nPDP Debunks Claims Of Marginalisation By Baraje’s Faction, As Ultimatum Expires

Another group of ex-Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP) leaders, who joined the coalition that formed the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2014, has slammed the Kawu Baraje group which claimed that the members were marginalised.

Last week, Baraje, a former acting chairman of PDP, and a former secretary, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, submitted a letter to the APC leadership, demanding a response and a meeting within seven days.

Oyinlola had since joined the African Democratic Congress, along with Olusegun Obasanjo’s Coalition Movement.

Members of Islami Movement of Nigeria (IMN), on Monday shutdown the Federal Secretariat Abuja, in a sustained protest seeking the release of their detained leader, Sheik Ibrahim El-Zakzaky. The aggrieved protesters who were mainly youths condemned the continued detention of Sheikh El-Zakzaky, claiming that despite court orders, the government had failed to release him.

President Muhammadu Buhari has commended the Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Dr Kayode Fayemi, on his victory in the governorship primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State.

The President extended his goodwill message to the minister in a series of tweets on his personal Twitter handle on Sunday.

He was also optimistic that having won the party’s ticket, the former governor would leverage his track record as a reformist who has a passion for education, health and welfare, to reclaim the governorship seat when the state goes to poll on July 14.

The National Assembly has been presented with the 2018 budget by the Committee on Appropriations to debate on.

The 2018 budget was presented Tuesday at the Senate during plenary which is expected to be deliberated on by the Senators on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, hoping to be passed on Thursday, May 17, 2018.

Passage of the budget had been delayed because the Ministries, Departments, and Agencies had not submitted details of their budget proposals.

The All Progressive Congress, APC, in Imo State, weekend, accused the Imo State government of allegedly burning down its secretariat in the state.

The party also asked the state House of Assembly to stop the impeachment process against the state Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere, just as it expressed “astonishment,” over the usurpation of its power by Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon Acho Ihim, whom it accused of unilaterally removing the Majority Leader of the House, Dr. Uche Oguike, without reference to it, pointing out that such responsibility was “the prerogative of the party.”

Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose on Sunday told his predecessor and current Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Dr.Kayode Fayemi not to celebrate yet, describing Fayemi’s victory, at the rescheduled governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress held on Saturday, pyrrhic.

Fayose thanked the APC delegates that picked Fayemi for doing him great favour, saying they had made his task and pain of defeating an APC candidate much easier with the choice of Fayemi as their candidate for the July 14 gubernatorial poll.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Idowu Adelusi, Fayose said the former Ekiti state governor’s victory has only positioned him to suffer a worse and more debilitating defeat than the one he dealt him in 2014.
