The Police Service Commission (PSC) reveals it has deployed a team of its senior staff to Ekiti State ahead of the governorship elections slated for Saturday, June 18, 2022, to monitor the conduct of Police officers. The Head of Press and Public Relations of the commission Ikechukwu Ani, revealed this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja. The commission has also penned down appropriate guidelines for all Police Officers drafted to the state on election duties and released the following dedicated telephone numbers for Nigerians to call to complain/report unwholesome conduct or to commend exemplary performance before, during or immediately after the elections.
The phone numbers are: 08065265651; 08072981057and 08033345362.
Ani said, the deployed team would be in the 16 local Government Areas (LGA) of the state.
According to the statement, the Chairman of the Commission, Alhaji Musiliu Smith, called on the deployed team to ensure professionalism in their conducts.
The PSC chairman cautioned that any personnel caught undermining the efforts of the commission to ensure orderly and peaceful elections would be disciplined in line with extant laws.
The PSC reserve the constitutional responsibility to appoint, promote, dismiss and exercise disciplinary control over officers of the Force except the Inspector-General of police.
