The National Universities Commission (NUC) has been criticized for allocating a paltry N8m for academic research and over N85m for purchase of vehicles for directors and other officials in the recently presented 2018 budget. President Muhammadu Buhari on November 7, 2017 presented the 2018 budget estimate to the National Assembly. The N8.6tn Budget proposal according to the President is intended to consolidate on the achievement of the previous budget.

President Muhammadu Buhari will on Monday, November 27, 2017 inaugurate the newly constituted 30-man Minimum Wage Committee to handle the negotiation of a new National Minimum Wage for Nigerian workers. The President had on Thursday approved the appointment of a 30-member tripartite committee. Bomb Blast Kills Worshippers In Mubi, Adamawa State
Emerging reports indicate that about nine Muslim worshippers are feared dead following a bomb explosion in an unnamed Mosque in Mubi, Adamawa state. According to the report, the incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday while Muslim faithful were observing the 'subhi prayer' in the Mosque.
PDP Rejects Anambra State Governorship Election Result
The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the concluded Anambra state Governorship election, Oseloka Obase has rejected the declaration of the Chief Willie Obiano of ALL Progressive Grand Alliance as winner of the poll. Obase in a statement made available to newsmen in Awka on Sunday said the result released by Independent National Electoral Commission is different from the figures obtained from the field.
