The National Assembly has postponed its resumption from Tuesday Sept. 19 to Tuesday Sept. 26. The Clerk to the National Assembly, Mr Sani Omolori, made this known in a statement on Wednesday.

The Nigerian Army said Operation Python Dance also known as 'Exercise Egwu Eke II' will commence full operation in the South East from September 15 to October 2017. The Deputy Director Public Relations, 82 Division of the Army, Musa Sagir made this known on Tuesday in a statement released to newsmen in Enugu. He hinted that the operation would cover states in the South East and South South. He listed the states to include Cross River, Enugu, Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi and Imo state.

Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Minister Geoffrey Onyeama on Monday said that about 700 million dollars had been realised from the pledges made by donors at the UN-backed Oslo Humanitarian Conference to address the humanitarian crisis in Lake Chad basin region. Onyeama stated this in Abuja while fielding questions from newsmen after a closed door meeting with UN delegation led by Mark Lowcock, UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been hit with a fresh crisis, following the controversial conduct of the recent governorship primaries in Anambra state and the adoption of the Ekiti state Deputy Governor, Prof. Kolapo Olusola as the successor of Governor Ayodele Fayose.
Governor Dave Umahi, the Chairman of the Anambra Governorship Primary election Committee announced Dr Oseloka Obaze as the winner of the primaries after he polled 672 votes to defeat Alex Obi-Ogbuklu who scored 190 votes and the Chief Executive Officer of Capital Oil and Gas, Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah who polled just 94 votes to come third.

Operatives of the Nigeria Custom Service, Tin-Can Island Command have impounded 1,100 pump action rifles. The weapons were reportedly smuggled from Turkey with a Bill of Laden that was disguised as cargo of wash hand basins. Briefing newsmen on Monday, the Comptroller General of the Nigerian Custom Service, Col. Hameed Ali (Rtd) who confirmed the seizure said that the weapons were fearfully concealed in a 1×20 ft container.
