The new Under-Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Mr. Mark Lowcock, will travel to Nigeria and Niger from September 9-12. The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said the Mr. Lowcock’s visit is aimed at drawing global attention to destructive impacts of the crisis on the people in the two countries.

The Yoruba elders rose from a summit on Thursday in Ibadan and resolved to settle for true federalism as it was in the first republic. The South West regional leaders met in Ibadan where they called for the Nigeria’s adopt a constitution guided the governance from 1960 to 1963 before the national crisis that led to military intervention. A Chief Magistrate’s Court sitting in Lokoja has ordered that the trio of Abdullahi Habib Audu, Bashiru Yahaya and medicine man, Ahmed Momoh, were arraigned for belonging to the terrorist group.
