Ministerial List: President Tinubu Submits 19 Additional Nominees

Femi Gbajabiamila, The Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has submitted to the Senate, 19 additional ministerial nominees for screening on Wednesday. President Tinubu’s request was contained in a letter read by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio which stated that the President’s request is in line with Section 147 (2) of the 1999 Constitution.

Subsidy Removal: Afenifere Tells Tinubu To Reduce Cost Of Governance

The pan-Yoruba socio-political group, (Afinefere) through its Secretary-General, Mr. Sola Ebiseni, in a statement on Friday has in strong terms condemned the present Administration over the hard time the citizens of Nigeria are facing as a result of the removal of fuel subsidy, stating that the government should alleviate the suffering by reducing the cost of governance in the country. According to the association, there was a need for the government to implement and update the Orosanye’s report. The statement read, “No one today questions the need for sacrifices by citizens to restore the fiscal viability of the country. However, that sacrifice must be made by all, and in a progressive manner. Those in the leadership of the country must lead by example.

Wike, El-Rufai, 26 Others Make Tinubu’s Ministerial List

Former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, and three other ex-governors made President Bola Tinubu’s ministerial list read on the floor of the Senate on Thursday afternoon. The three other ex-governors, Dave Umahi (Ebonyi); Nasir El Rufai (Kaduna); Abubakar Badaru (Jigawa). Presidential spokesman, Dele Alake; acting National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Abubakar Kyari; Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Lateef Fagbemi; also made the list.

INEC Expresses Concerns Over Violence In Bayelsa, Others

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has expressed its concern over the current political violence and a further increase ahead of the elections scheduled to hold in Bayelsa, Imo and Kogi states on November 11, 2023. The Commission said there are already signs of political clashes among political parties, even though the campaign just started.

IPOB: Senate Seeks Ekpa’s Extradition Over Sit-At-Home Violence

The Nigerian Senate has reached a resolution to ask the Federal Government to collaborate with the Finland Government to ensure the extradition of the factional leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Simon Ekpa. Ekpa has unlawfully ordered Sit-At-Home protest on Monday in the South-East States of Anambra, Enugu, Imo, Abia and Ebonyi States to protest the continued detention of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu by the Federal Government.
