Senate Recalls Ndume After 90-day Suspension

The Senate has agreed that its former Majority Leader, Senator Ali Ndume can resume duties on Wednesday, November 15th.

The Senate will challenge the Nov. 13 judgment of the Federal High Court ordering it to pay all salaries and allowances of Sen. Ali Ndume, who has been on a six-month suspension.

The senate made this known in a statement by its Counsel, Mr Mike Ozekhome, on Sunday.

Governor Nyesom Wike and Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi were caught in accusations and counter accusations Saturday night as their convoys ran into each other in Port Harcourt, leading into a fracas.

Spokesmen of both Wike and Amaechi, who was governor between 2007 and 2015, traded claims of assassination attempt, but the clear victims were the policemen attached to Amaechi.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday at the presidential villa, Abuja, opened a special retreat of the Federal Executive Council on the challenges facing Nigeria's education sector.

In his statement while declaring the retreat open, Buhari recalled he situation in Kaduna State, noting that “it is a very serious situation when teachers cannot pass the exams they're supposed to administer to their students.

Director of Operations in the Department of State Services (DSS), Godwin N. Eteng, has declared that shady individuals in the armed forces and other security agencies sell arms to criminals.

Eteng spoke before the House of Representatives Joint Committee on Customs and Excise and National Intelligence investigating the influx of small arms and light weapons within and into Nigeria.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Akwa Ibom, Mr Mike Igini has advised staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to work hard to earn public trust ahead of 2019 elections saying it is worrisome that electorates do not trust INEC.

Igini speaking in Uyo at the end of his assessment tour of INEC Local Government offices in the state said it has been observed that the electorate does not trust INEC staff, adding that this situation is worrisome.
