INEC Suspends Sokoto REC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has suspended the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Sokoto State, Dr Nura Ali, with immediate effect. The Suspended REC along with the state Administrative Secretary and has been instructed to stay away from the Commission’s office in Sokoto until further notice.

2023 Election: Jandor Is Not Stepping Down - PDP

Ahead of the 2023 Gubernatorial elections, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday 6th of March disclosed that Abdul-Azeez Adediran, Jandor, the party’s governorship candidate, is not stepping down for any candidate. The party described the merger rumours making rounds as speculations, as there is no “official conversation” between the party and Labour Party (LP).

2023 Elections: Court Grants Obi, Atiku’s Request To Inspect Electoral Materials

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has on Friday 3rd of march 2023, granted the request of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and that of Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, the request to inspect the election materials deployed during the February 25, 2023, presidential election. Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Wednesday 1st of March 2023 declared All Progressives Congress (APC), presidential candidate Bola Tinubu the winner of the presidential election after amassing a total of 8,794,726.

LP Defeats APC In Lagos State Presidential Election

Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) has defeated his All Progressive Party (APC) opponent, Bola Tinubu Ahmed in the just concluded presidential election in Lagos State. Mr. Obi who scored 582,454 votes defeated his closest contestant, Tinubu who got 572, 606 votes and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) came as the second running up with 75,750 votes in Nigeria's most populous state.

2023 Elections: INEC Reviews Presidential Election, Sets Date For Issuance Of Certificates Of Return To Elected NASS Members

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Saturday morning, reviewed the February 25th presidential election and made some observations, especially in terms of logistics management. The commission then promised to make improvements before going on to set the 7th and 8th of march as dates for the issuance of Certificates of Return to Senators-elect and House of Representatives-elect.

INEC Presents Certificate of Return To Tinubu

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) presented the certificate of return to Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the President-Elect of the just concluded presidential elections. The certificate was presented on Wednesday to Tinubu by the INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, where the certificate of return was also presented to Tinubu’s running mate, Kashim Shettima.

Gov. Ayade Loses Senatorial Election

The Governor of Cross River State, Professor Ben Ayade has lost his quest to return the Senate after being defeated by the incumbent senator representing C/R North, Sen. Jarigbe Agom-Jarigbe. Ayade who is rounding up his second term as a governor was in Senate from 2011 to 2015 and was also re-elected governor as a PDP member, Ayade, however, defected to the All Progressives Congress in 2021. Agom-Jarigbe chose to remain in PDP. Declaring the results of the election on 27th February 2023 in Ogoja, the INEC returning officer for the election Dr. Emmanuel Emanghe said Jarigbe polled 76,145 votes to defeat Ayade of the APC who polled 56, 595 votes.
