The Labour Party (LP) candidate for Enugu East Senatorial district, Oyibo Chukwu, has been killed alongside several others whose number could not be ascertained at the time of reporting. Oyibo, a lawyer, was said to have been attacked alongside his supporters while returning from a campaign trip in the Agbani area.

In preparation for the 2023 Presidential and National Assembly elections scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 25, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the distribution of sensitive materials to its local government offices across the country. According to reports, the Commission has begun the distribution of sensitive materials from state branches of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in Cross River, Edo, Lagos, Niger, amongst others.
NYSC Deploys Over 200,000 Corps Members As Adhoc Staff For Election
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has deployed over 200,00 corps members across the nation to work as Adhoc staff for the forthcoming general elections. This was disclosed on 22nd February 2023, by the NYSC’s Director General, Brigadier General Yushau Dogara Ahmed during a briefing at the nation's capital during a briefing with journalists on the Scheme’s preparedness for the forthcoming general elections. He said: “Over 75 percent of the adhoc staff are the Corps members. So we are making use of over 200,000 Corps members for this exercise. They form a bulk of the adhoc staff. We will give the best that we can give.”

General Elections: NCC Introduces Toll-Free Number To Report Incidents
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has introduced 622 as the toll-free number to report incidents that may affect voting during the general elections. This was made known on Tuesday by Umar Danbatta, NCC’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), stating that the toll-free number would assist the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to address any issue that may arise at the voting centres, adding that the effort was part of measures to ensure hitch-free elections.

INEC Accredits 1.5m Party Agents In Thousands Polling Units
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has made public 1,500,000 lists of party Agents registered by 18 Political Parties in 176, 974 Polling Units for the forthcoming Presidential, Senatorial, and Governorship elections slated for 25th February and 11th March 2023. The statistic of agents shows that the Labor Party (Obi) 134, 874 Agents, African Democratic Congress (Obi) has 96,034, People Democratic Party (Atiku) has 176,974 Agents, All Progressive Congress (Tinubu) has 176,974 Agents while the other 14 parties have a total of 1,081,358 Agents.
