President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the nomination of Mr Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi as Deputy Governor at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), subject to Senate confirmation. Malam Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, made this known in statement in Abuja on Friday.

Popular Human Rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN) on Thursday responded to claim by a former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Alfa Belgore that the posthumous award of GCFR to the presumed winner of the June 12 elections by President Muhammadu Buhari was illegal, and in breach of the National Honours Act.

The Nigerian Senate on Thursday passed the controversial Independent National Electoral Commission Act Amendment Bill, albeit without the clause that seeks to reshuffle the order of polls in a general election. According to Punch, the passage was in concurrence with the House of Representatives, which had earlier passed an edited version of the bill. The report says, clauses that made the President to withdraw his assent initially were removed from the amendment.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday June 10, 2018, embarked on two day working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco.

Mr President departed the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, about 1:55 pm Sunday.
